Ordinary people helping ordinary people do extraordinary things
Do you believe in the capacity of a small group of ordinary individuals to lead the effort for revolutionary, global change, as has happened time and again throughout history? And do you believe in your own capacity to accomplish extraordinary things with audacious, passionate, relentless effort?
Imanuel experienced extreme poverty within his own family as a youngster in Trinidad and Tobago, and he continues to see the devastation of abject poverty there today. Bothered by these afflictions, he contemplated small, but realizable ways to aid the poor of his community. But without any resources or help, he couldn’t put his ideas into action.
So, when given the opportunity to join AI Humanity to help rid the world of poverty, Imanuel eagerly accepted and has dedicated his life to bringing prosperity to the unprosperous. Ever since he joined AI Humanity, from the early days of the organization, when he helped craft the organization’s slogan, Imanuel has provided a steadying influence both for progress and for pragmatism. What’s more, he is willing to do whatever is asked of him, even when it veers sharply from his technical expertise.
Imanuel believes that a person should be willing to work hard to realize success, so he prides himself on laboring tirelessly to achieve significant goals. For example, Imanuel endured the challenging software engineering program at Bov Academy, and excelled—graduating before 99% of the more than 100 other students from across the globe who began the program when he did.
A self-described “nerd,” a chill guy who loves to laugh and have fun, a big fan of childhood cartoons like SpongeBob and Looney Toons, a lover of nature, a seeker of unusual and memorable experiences, Imanuel enjoys life just as much as he pursues his vocation. When he is not on the computer, you will find him gallivanting outdoors, playing video games, exercising, or dreaming of traveling the world.
Role at AI Humanity
With his passionate desire to end poverty, with his relentless perseverance in completing big projects, with his astute programming expertise, Imanuel has sacrificed much to take up the opportunity to serve as one of the lead software engineers and principal poverty researchers at AI Humanity.
On the Matter of Solving Poverty
Imanuel gives his perspective on poverty, in his own words:
At certain periods of my childhood, my family was really poor. At other times, we weren't desperately poor but we were by no means well off. Those times were really tough, and they ignited in me a passion to succeed and to help my family and those around me get out of poverty. I had that burning desire and passion for ending poverty in my family for as long as I can remember.
AI Humanity's mission will not only help me get my family and close acquaintances out of poverty, but it also sets out to help millions of people around the world beat poverty as well. Since this mission and the goals of AI Humanity are perfectly aligned with my own, but on a much more magnificent scale, joining this project was a no-brainer for me.
I frequently notice how everything is structured so that a few people at the top of the societal hierarchy benefit from the suffering of those at the bottom, and I am determined to help those at the bottom find realistic paths to prosperity.
Poverty can draw us into the dark underbelly of human existence, where hunger, disease, drugs, and crime envelop all who enter. Unfortunately, more often than not, this is exactly what occurs, which is why this problem needs to be solved. I remember waking up, as a five-year-old, with tactical police guns pointed at me. Why? Because we lived in a bad neighborhood and the police thought we were hiding a wanted man.
Were it not for the strong determination of my parents to keep us away from the negative elements that poverty attracts, my life could have gone down a much different path. Poverty can easily force anyone into a life of criminality when one’s environment and associates and other conditions are all aligned to lead in that direction.
I'm one of those people who experiences poverty but I’m also someone who has a strong passion for conquering it and helping others to conquer it as well. I started wanting to help my family, but my interest has now expanded way beyond that. I will help as many people as I can, all over the world, rise above their unfortunate reality.
